Early morning May 10th 1940…
…German paratroopers starting the attack of Fort Eben Emael by introducing the brandnew idea using paragliders for this task.
These paragliders directly hit the ground on top of the Fort, while none of the enemy infantry men takes a notice of this.
Just a few soldiers, members of the French anti aircraft forces are in service to defend the Fort from outside, but no doubt, these men are easily overwhelmed and imprisoned by the German troops.
Yet to come is the fortress attack itself - approximately 1000 men defending this Fort have to be defeated not a simple job to do.
After the landing the paratroopers take their time by checking the situation and placing their new and absolute secret weapons the hollow explosive charge.
Refer to the pictures of the concrete copulas. Most of them show detonation marks of this awful weapon.
After several attacks using these hollow charges the 1000 French men give up fighting and, believe it or not, by capitulating standing in front of a group of only 20 German paratroopers.
Fort Eben Emael is located in the area of Maastricht (Netherlands); Tongeren (Belgium); Aachen (Germany).
Wishing you big fun by having a look at the pictures.
